Osprey's Dominion
Ninety acres of vinifera grapes grow under the watchful eye of the soaring Osprey, our vineyard’s namesake. Our state-of-the-art winery shows our commitment to fine winemaking.
Our first vines were planted on 24 acres in Peconic in 1983. An additional 16 acre parcel in Mattituck was purchased and planted in the late 1980’s, but it wasn’t until the early 90’s, when we purchases 50 acres of land and buildings at our present Main road location in Peconic, that we began producing and selling the Osprey brand. In 2012, our entire Richmond Creek second label was introduced to compliment the Osprey line.
Although the Long Island wine region is located at approximately the same latitude as the great wine growing regions of France, at Osprey’s Dominion we truly believe our location (being surrounded, yet sheltered, by both the LI Sound and Peconic Bay) and the complexity of the farming soil here, contribute significantly to the quality and character of our grapes, and hence, our wines.
Our overall philosophy is to produce the best wines with the least interference from humankind. We believe that our unique location, soil complexity and Mother Nature give us something different to work with each year, and it is our job and vocation to develop what we’ve been given, into the very best it can be. Born to a family of sailmakers in Scotland, our founder, William J. Mills, settled in Greenport, NY on the North Fork of Long Island. The area, known for it’s impressive whaling and oyster fleets, was in need of a master sailmaker and thus William J. Mills & Company was born.
With the introduction of steam and gasoline powered engines at the turn of the 20th Century, William J Mills recognized that the days of a commercial fleet powered by sails were short lived. While maintaining its sailmaking roots with sail fabrication for small sailing yachts, the business diversified its services by fabricating awnings and other canvas products for homes and businesses as well as custom marine canvas products.

Bob and Joyce Pellegrini were one of the original pioneers in the Long Island wine community. After partnering in a small vineyard in the 80’s, they quickly realized the potential of the North Fork region. In 1991, the Pellegrini’s purchased their own vineyard and built a 14,000 square foot winery complex that was one of the very first wineries that integrated the entire winemaking process. We have bikes in stock from: Felt, Niner, Raleigh, GT, Schwinn, KHS, Free Agent, Fuji, Easton, Marin, Rocky Mountain, and Verde.
We can also order electronic bikes and scooters from e-zip and i-zip.
Our full service department can take on any job. From flat tires to complete overhauls. We will custom build bikes or wheels to suit your needs, and we are happy to work on any bicycle regardless of where you purchased it.
We have car racks for trunk, spare tire, and hitch from Saris, Allen, Hollywood, Kuat & Swagman.
We also have roof racks from Thule & Yakima.
