Ninety acres of vinifera grapes grow under the watchful eye of the soaring Osprey, our vineyard’s namesake. Our state-of-the-art winery shows our commitment to fine winemaking.
Our first vines were planted on 24 acres in Peconic in 1983. An additional 16 acre parcel in Mattituck was purchased and planted in the late 1980’s, but it wasn’t until the early 90’s, when we purchases 50 acres of land and buildings at our present Main road location in Peconic, that we began producing and selling the Osprey brand. In 2012, our entire Richmond Creek second label was introduced to compliment the Osprey line.
Although the Long Island wine region is located at approximately the same latitude as the great wine growing regions of France, at Osprey’s Dominion we truly believe our location (being surrounded, yet sheltered, by both the LI Sound and Peconic Bay) and the complexity of the farming soil here, contribute significantly to the quality and character of our grapes, and hence, our wines.
Our overall philosophy is to produce the best wines with the least interference from humankind. Originally known as GNS Contracting Corp., Mr. William Gremler and Mr. Cliff Saunders founded the company in 1974 in order to provide solutions to the growing number of water issues arising on the North Fork of Long Island. In 1996, current owner Mr. John Scaramucci purchased the business, which had expanded its service area to most of Suffolk County and some of Nassau County. GNS's name was changed to GNS/Mermaid Water Systems, with intentions to eventually phase out the “GNS” portion (GNS stands for 'Gremler and Saunders'). Today, Mermaid has increased the density of its coverage in Suffolk and Nassau and expanded even further, servicing clients in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. In addition to changing the culture of the company and adding many new faces, Scaramucci also developed a sound method of testing and personally certifying any equipment that was to be sold and installed. As a former carpenter and owner of Scaramucci Construction, John’s mantra is “measure twice, cut once.” He has applied this to all aspects of the company and his life, just ask any of his colleagues or his three sons, two of which are current GNS/Mermaid employees.

Over 40 years ago, Bill and Dolores Kreitsek opened Suffolk Designer Lighting ("SDL") in Riverhead, New York. At that time, SDL catered mainly to local electricians and homeowners.
In 1974, SDL moved to a new facility on East Main Street in Riverhead. While on East Main Street, SDL grew its electrical and lighting business, selling to a wide array of customers on both Forks of Long Island and Western Suffolk County. In 1985, SDL opened its store in Southampton, the location where SDL still operates. Over the past 23 years, SDL has continued to grow, but remains a closely held family business that emphasizes its relationships with its customers.

Pellegrini Vineyards
Bob and Joyce Pellegrini were one of the original pioneers in the Long Island wine community. After partnering in a small vineyard in the 80’s, they quickly realized the potential of the North Fork region. In 1991, the Pellegrini’s purchased their own vineyard and built a 14,000 square foot winery complex that was one of the very first wineries that integrated the entire winemaking process. After a year of planning, Bob, a NYC based graphic designer worked side by side with builders to create an architecturally striking two-story tasting room bolstered by oak posts and hand-hewn beams. American Muscle Studios houses two levels of beautiful space to accommodate many of our training modalities in an exclusive studio environment. The main level houses our newly renovated Personal Training area as well as a 1,200 square foot workout floor for TRX, weight training, functional fitness, aerial yoga classes and more. Our second floor gives you a Manhattan feel as you overlook the hustle and bustle of Main St. Riverhead. Its tranquil space with traditional hardwood floors with floor to ceiling windows offers the perfect ambiance for classes such as our newly added and increasingly popular Pilates Reformer Studio run by Pilates Master Trainer Jeannie Brady.

To preserve & protect our region's native wildlife by providing rehabilitation services and education to raise public awareness of the factors that threaten its abundance and diversity.”
Estelle Alexander was born 1910, married to Jack Alexander, and had one child, Leslie Alexander. Estelle went by Evelyn. She was an artist and a great singer and always loved animals. In response to a generous endowment presented to the Wildlife Rescue Center by Mr. Leslie Alexander in early 2011, the Wildlife Rescue Center became the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in honor of Mr. Alexander's mother.
The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center depends upon volunteers for a wide variety of tasks, and because the animals here depend on us for their very existence, we do ask for a serious commitment from our volunteers. Wilbur Mills Awnings
America's oldest sailmaker
Born to a family of sailmakers in Scotland, our founder, William J. Mills, settled in Greenport, NY on the North Fork of Long Island. The area, known for it’s impressive whaling and oyster fleets, was in need of a master sailmaker and thus William J. Mills & Company was born.
With the introduction of steam and gasoline powered engines at the turn of the 20th Century, William J Mills recognized that the days of a commercial fleet powered by sails were short lived. While maintaining its sailmaking roots with sail fabrication for small sailing yachts, the business diversified its services by fabricating awnings and other canvas products for homes and businesses as well as custom marine canvas products.
Today, we remain a family business that is owned and operated by the sixth generation of master sailmakers within the Mills family. Many of our old sail plans have been donated to the Mystic Seaport museum.
